Youth group

Overview

  • Facilitates and oversees Regional Youth Group activities regarding fun, faith, food & fellowship as directed. 

 

Responsibilities

  • Ensures that an updated list of youth participant contact information for their parent(s) and/or guardian(s) is provided to the Holy Redeemer Ministry and Mission Assistant.

 

  • Manages the dispersal and collection of Parent/Guardian Consent for Participants under 18, and tracks photo release information and provides to the Holy Redeemer Ministry and Mission Assistant.

 

  • Walk-in youth can only stay if the youth group leader is able to receive consent from parent/guardian by phone.   

 

  • Takes attendance at each session.

 

  • Encourages invitation and inclusion of new members.

 

  • Ensures that appropriate equipment/supplies are on hand, such as name tags for all participants and youth leaders. Name tags for people who have opted out of photos, etc. will be clearly marked.

 

  • Facilitates a friendly, open environment where the youth are encouraged to share and participate in each activity.

 

  • Facilitates the various activities of the youth gathering, i.e. sports (fun), faith sharing, food, & fellowship.

 

  • Witnesses your own Christian faith to the youth to by being joyful, enthusiastic, and ready to serve in whatever capacity is required for a given event.

 

  • Ensures at least one youth leader has access to a cell phone at all times.

 

  • Ensures the safety of all present and immediately report any injuries to the pastor of the youth using the form provided.

 

  • Is mindful of allergies and other special needs of youth.

 

  • Reports to the pastor of the youth or his delegate any troublesome behavior, including lack of respect for:

    • The rules of the group

    • The authority of the leaders to guide the activities

    • The rights of all participants to a bully-free environment

  The pastors reserve the right to ban any member of the group as they see fit.

  • Ensures that all rules are followed, such as:

    • Cell phones of the youth can be on vibrate if the parents require the youth to be in constant contact with them.  However, cell phones may not disrupt the activity that is underway. The youth may opt to turn in their cell phone for safe-keeping by the youth leaders until the activities are over and children are waiting for their rides home. The church is not responsible for the loss or breakage of any electronic devices.  

 

  • One person is allowed to go to the restroom at a time.  The next person only goes when the last one has returned.

 

  • Supervises the clean up, storage of equipment, religious articles, and food, and the transition from one area to another in the building.  

 

  • Checks all bathrooms at the end of the youth event to ensure the youth have not clogged drains or made a mess.

 

  • Ensures all areas that are vacated are secured with a lock, if applicable.

 

  • In the event of illness, calls the parents to pick up the youth.

 

  • Two youth leaders must stay with the children until their rides have arrived.

 

  • Supervises any parents or guardians who may be accompanying their child.

 

  • Provides training and support to other facilitators.
     

  • Is responsible for finding a replacement in the event of short notice cancellation and advising the Ministry Coordinator.

 

Skills, Experience & Qualifications 

  • Is a registered, active member of the parish.

 

  • Is at least 18 years old and knows the basics of the Roman Catholic faith.

 

  • Communicates easily with children and their families.
