Development and Peace – Caritas Canada is the official international development organization of the Catholic Church in Canada.

We are the Canadian member of Caritas Internationalis, a global confederation of over 160 Catholic organizations around the world.

Our 12,500+ members across Canada are the heart of what we are: a democratic movement for international solidarity that acts for social justice.
Training Next-Generation Farmers in Indonesia
In rural Indonesia, young people are abandoning agriculture to work in cities. Over time, this could threaten food sovereignty.

Our partner PAYOPAYO empowers village communities to work together to find solutions to common challenges related to agriculture, food, energy, natural resource management and the engagement of youths, especially women.

This Lent, meet our solidarity visitor Karno Batiran, the executive director of PAYOPAYO. Learn more at dev.org/lent.
This Sunday, 17 March 2024, is Share Lent - Solidarity Sunday...with a formal presentation of the Symbols of Solidarity.
This will be followed by the Special Lent Collection, the key fundraiser for D & P to continue our work in helping the small scale farmers in the global south to reap their rights.

Stand for the Land
Good News! D&P has announced that 46,315 signatures have been collected for the “Stand for the Land” letter/petition to the Honduran ambassador to Canada far exceeding the goal of 32,000. The petition concerns the irresponsible social and environmental behavior of Canadian mining companies in Honduras supported by the Honduran government.
